Cooking with stainless steel frying pan.

  • Cooking in a stainless steel casserole is ideal to fry, perfect to braise, amazing to steam or poach, and exactly what it takes to let a meal simmer.
  • Cooking meats or fish in a stainless steel frying pan, without adding any fat, is easier than you might think!

Start by testing with water drops

  • Pre-heat the pan at medium intensity, without adding fat, oil or food.
  • Check temperature by adding some water drops. If they “roll”, it means the desired temperature has been reached.
  • To make sure that the meat is evenly touching the frying pan, use a Tupperware Spatula to press down on the meat.
  • Don’t try to turn the pieces of meat or fish over too fast by using force. Simply wait until they detach from the cooking surface by themselves, and then turn them over.
  • It is perfectly normal for the cooking juices to stick to the bottom of the pan. Just make a sauce out of them, by adding a liquid and let it simmer. The pan will also be easier to clean.
  • If you wish to cook a sauce, the first step is to take the meat out of the pan, and then to add the liquid of your choice, such as cream, honey, balsamic vinegar, water, broth, etc and mix it with the cooking juices. Put the meat back and let it stand for 2 minutes.
  • If you want a richer taste and a more appetizing look, you can definitely cook with a little bit of fat.

Simple rules for going from the conventional oven to the microwave oven with the TupperWave by Tupperware

During Tupperware parties, we often teach our clients about the 3-4-5 basic rules for adapting a recipe that needs to be cooked in the oven, to the microwave oven.  And we now share them with you:

  • 3 – Always let stand for a third of the cooking time.
  • 4 – Divide the original oven cooking time by 4, and that’s the cook time for the microwave.
  • 5 – Divide the oven temperature by 5, which will give you the power level at which you should set your microwave. For example, you would normally cook a chicken at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If we divide it by 5 that give’s us the intensity at which to set the microwave: 70%.

Also, we can reduce the seasoning, including salt, by half. The friction of the water molecules in the food, while reheating, diffuses the flavor.

Finally, you can reduce the water amount required for a recipe by ¼ cup, per cup. For example, if the recipe requires 2 cups, you would only put 1-½ cups.

The ecologically and economically friendly Tupperware lunch box

Here’s an interesting concept that puts both kids and adults to the challenge to have no trash come out of their lunch box: no wrapping, no leftovers, no waste at all. By preparing on average 250 lunches per year, every little bit we doe that helps to minimize waste counts!

Feed ourselves or feed the trash can…?

Avoid using disposable utensils, plates, glasses and containers. Tupperware products are reusable as well as watertight and airtight; snack cups (yogurt, applesauce), midgets (salad dressing, soy sauce, mayonnaise), mini stuffables (vegetables, grapes, pear), sandwich keepers (to eliminate the crushed sandwich syndrome) etc. Do not reuse old margarine, yogurt, cottage cheese or Chinese food containers, as they are not meant to be reused. Toxic particles can get separated from the containers and contaminate the food, especially if they are reheated. Also, they are not resistant and they not airtight.

Buy in bulk and divide into individual portions in Tupperware containers: companies that sell individually wrapped portions multiply the wrappings, which end up in the trash, and they are more expensive. Prepare portions in advance: whether it’s juice, snacks, fruits or vegetables, you’ll save time and money all the while preserving the environment. You can also freeze certain varieties of bread in order to have some on hand at all times for sandwiches.

Multiply: Double or triple all your muffins, cookies and breads recipes, then freeze them. On weekends, cook a large piece of meat for an evening dinner, and mince the rest for sandwiches and salads for your lunches.

Prepare your snacks: Prepare in advance individual snack portions, your crackers, and cheese pieces, wash and cut your grapes in small clusters, etc.

Make a habit of preparing a large amount of vegetables and conserve them in your refrigerator in the FridgeSmart containers. Choose easy to handle vegetables like cherry tomatoes and mini carrots. Served with dip, they make a great snack.

For dinner, prepare extra rice, pasta or potatoes. They will be transformed into rice cakes, pasta and potato salads for your lunches. Favor organic and local foods. Certified organic foods offer a pesticide-free, hormone-free, drug-free and eco friendly option even if they are more expensive. Encourage the local economy, and limit transport, by subscribing to an organic basket directly from the farm (http://www.equiterre.org/en/solution/organic-baskets). Then store those fruits and vegetables in the FridgeSmart containers to maximize their lifespan, that way you can have more variety and avoid waste.

Avoid processed foods when possible. They’re high in calories, low in nutrients and they are often composed of unnecessary ingredients. Variety is key! Vary colors, textures and shapes. The Impressions classic bowls come in many size (from individual to extra large). Camping with Tupperware!

When camping, no one wants the meal times to be complicated, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat healthy! Proper planning before your departure and a few tips to make sure you bring the RIGHT containers, the essentials, will allow you to prepare delicious and healthy meals in a flash!

Go ahead, take your Tupperware containers out for some fresh air!

First, choose containers that are square or rectangular, they allow you to maximize the available space, but it’s also important to bring a few round ones for their airtight seal.

Only take out the frozen items at the very last minute (a maximum of frozen items will allow you to keep your cooler much colder and with any extra ice), that way you can restock on ice only on 2!

Use airtight containers to store a lighter, newspaper, matches and toilet paper. Like the Large Carry-All with handle or a Modular Mate rectangle 4. You’ll need 2 Quick Shake containers:

  1. For a dozen small eggs, broken but not mixed (the eggs will come out one at the time when you’re ready to use them) to avoid the cardboard box from being soaked and ripped apart.
  2. For some pancake batter that you will have prepared in advance, you’ll have a hearty breakfast that will be the envy of your neighbors!

Here’s a list of y favorite recipe’s to make at a Tupperware party. Each one of these is very much appreciated and will have great success during your party. The process is simple: You pick the recipe that most inspires you and you purchase the necessary ingredients in time for the party. During the party I will prepare the recipe to demonstrate to all your guests that it’s not only delicious but that it’s also quick and easy to prepare!

Simple Salsa

5-6 small plum tomatoes, 1 small onion, 1 lime, fresh cilantro, Simple Indulgence Southwest Chipotle Seasoning Blend ¨(I’ll supply this one!), Corn chips in the style of « Tostitos ».

Pineapple and mango salsa

½ red onion, 1 red bell pepper (or halves of different colors), fresh cilantro, 1 mango, 1 can of pineapple, 1 lime, Simple Indulgence Southwest Chipotle Seasoning Blend ¨(I’ll supply this one!), Corn chips in the style of « Tostitos ».

Lean chocolate cake and chocolate ganache recipe for the microwave

1/3 cup of yogurt, 3 egg whites, 1 chocolate cake mix and add a cup of water! Ganache : ½ cup of semi-sweet chocolate pieces, 1/3 cup of 35% cream. Detailed recipe here

Apple and/or berry crumble

6-8 apples, 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of flour 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, maple syrup (optional). Detailed recipe here.

Berry sorbet

2 cups of frozen fruits (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, … to taste), egg whites (1 per cup of fruit), maple syrup. If you prefer to make an ice cream version, replace the egg whites with 35% cream (1 cup per cup of fruit).

Mandarin and ginger granita

2 cans of mandarins (keep in freezer the night before), 2-3 Tbsp of fine sugar, 2-3 tsp of fresh ginger, 1 egg white

Raspberry soft ice cream

1 cup of frozen raspberries (take them out of the freezer 10 minutes before the recipe), 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 Tbsp of maple syrup.

Artichoke dip

1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 cup of 14% sour cream, 1 cup of grated cheese, 1 can of marinated artichokes, 1 pack of Knorr cream of leak. Detailed recipe here.

If you want your guests to serve themselves, you could keep your drinks cold by planning ahead. Simply freeze part of what you plan to serve (about 1/5 of the entire recipe). For example, if you plan to serve iced tea, simply fill the Fresh and Pure ice trays with iced tea, or if you serve Sangria you could fill the trays with 7up, that way when the melt, you want have water diluting you drink!

Using the Impressions bowls collection, we can make an ice bowl to impress your guests! Fill half of the Large Impressions bowl with boiling water. Then, place the Medium Impressions bowl in the large one in order to raise the water level until it reaches the top of the large bowl. Finally, place the lid onto the large bowl and send this assembly to the freezer for the night. To unmold, lightly run the bowl under hot water and gently remove the ice bowl. For serving, place the ice bowl onto the lid so that it collects the water from the bowl as it slowly melts. This bowl can be used to serve punch, a shrimp cocktail, etc. It’s really impressive and beautiful!

Tupperware offers as many possibilities to serve elegantly and hassle free, than solutions for quick and easy meal preparations. Tupperware makes the party clean up easy; simply put the lids on your service bowls and store, and the dirty ones can be placed in the dishwasher for easy cleaning! (With the exception of the acrylic products hand washing is recommended for these collections in order to maintain the glasslike aspect)
